Photo Library site launched

I have recently launched a modified version of Graham Meadows Photo Library, a site containing a database of (as of today) 15,000 images. The site has been completely redesigned, and is my first major project that utilises AJAX.

While the old site was functional, and received good feedback from users, the frames and complex URLs prevented the site from getting rankings in the search engines. The new site eliminates these problems, and we expect to see some good rankings coming soon. At this point in time, Google has indexed almost 40,000 pages, and continues to visit the site daily.

The use of AJAX on the site allows preview images and search results to be returned without having to reload the whole page, a feature I expect to be used more commonly in new websites.

Graham has some amazing photography on the site. A lot of the content is his own, but also contains images from several other New Zealand photographers. Images are for sale to be used in advertising, books, magazines or websites.

Please take the time to visit www.gmpl.co.nz, there is a lot of content on the site, and it's interesting just to have a browse through the pictures.
