So I query the database to get the data, escape the data so apostrophes and new lines don't throw a wobbly and set up some basic links using document.getElementById().
Upload to server, test in Firefox and it's all working smooth. Feeling like I achieved something significant in 5 mins, so it's a pat on the back and load up IE for a quick test.
Not surprisingly, Internet Explorer starts throwing it's toys. When you click my link, instead of doing what the Javascript says, it just reloads the page. So I tweak, re-upload and test again - same thing.
After 20 mins of this, I'm running out of ideas so it's off to Google to see who else has the same problem. Not surprisingly, everyone else has issues with Javascript and IE, so I do some reading, and learn more about IE's bugs. Continue for another 30 mins reading, tweaking, testing.
Then it dawned on me - Yesterday, I had been testing some of my websites for search engine friendlyness - normally I will just spider the site and make sure all pages can be indexed, but this time I decided to turn Javascript OFF and have a manual look through some of my sites. I had forgotten to turn Javascript back on again, and this would explain why things weren't working.
Normally, it's not worth posting this sort of thing, but it occured to me that this is one of the first instances in recent times where it hasn't been IE's fault that my Javascripts or CSS stopped working. I guess IE is just an obvious first point of blame when things go wrong.
